My scanner uses a wetgate system, where a special fluid fills in surface scratches and reduces the appearance of dust, giving noticeably cleaner, clearer results – especially with older film.
Importantly, the machine does not use sprocket holes to pull the film. Instead, it uses a gentle, sprocket-less transport system that’s much safer for old or fragile reels, reducing the risk of damage during scanning.
